Battery voltage Mk8

Featured Replies

I've had my Mk8 for about 18 months now and wonder if the battery is ok. I measured the voltage about 18 hours after a 250 mile drive and it was just 12.15V. It has never gone much higher than this since I bought it. The voltage right after a run never goes above 12.35V or so. I am used to much higher voltages on my older Fiesta and KA, even with old batteries. Is it a new type of battery with slightly lower voltage?

it has a smart voltage management and charging system , I mean the alternator is not always charging the battery as in the old days , but the management system always try to maintain battery charge between 50% and 80% , that's why when I check mine sometimes I find it 12.2 , and sometimes 12.7 , try checking again in a while you might find it 12.7 🙂  so I think as long as no warning lights are on, lights and electronic devices work normally, and the auto start stop feature works correctly I guess no need to worry.
