Got an error code of DTC 1 A479 in the self test menu, read somewhere is its the park brake short to ground? But I've had no lights pop up on the dash and all lights are out when driving and park brake seems fine to my knowledge?

    It is most likely the switch on the handbrake lever or its connection to the BCM. Check if the dash light for the handbrake comes on when the handbrake is on.

    It is not an urgent or critical job, I don't think there is an MoT test on handbrake warning lamps.

    When the handbrake is on the symbol on the dash is illuminated. 🤔

    In that case it may just be an intermittent error. A code reader might be able to clear the code, though it may need Forscan with a modified ELM to be able to clear codes in the BCM. However, if the fault does not happen again the code will go away at some time.
