2010 Fiesta Zetec S Brake pedal issue

Featured Replies

Our 2010 1.6 TiVCT Zetec S fiesta has always had a poor brake pedal "feel" , The pedal travels a good way before the brakes bite . it has been to a good Ford dealer (there are a couple out there) and has had a "power bleed" which made little or no difference.

I havent checked  the rear brake adjustment yet, but when the brakes do work well when they start to bite.

Im told its quite a common issue, so has anyone else had the same problem and successfully sorted it.

Only thing I could think of is the rear drums might need adjustment. I noticed when I had drums and adjusted them it felt like all brakes would engage at light pressure of the pedal. Sadly it didn't last long until it felt like it needed adjustment again.

I upgraded the drums to the ST disc brakes and it feels like all brakes engage now at less pressure.

There was a brake upgrade for 2010 models, my Mrs had a 1.6 tdci titanium that had crap brakes. We knew nothing about the upgrade until we traded it in.
