Fiesta Mk7 Electric Woes

Featured Replies

Good morning folks, I have a bizarre problem that I hope you can help me diagnose a few issues - I have a Mk7 ST Line

All of the following appear to have stopped working at around the same time, but not at exactly the same time.

Daytime Running Lights no longer automatically come on with the car, the regular side lights and main beams work when operated manually

Washer pump stopped working initially, no sound from it at all

Shortly after, my wipers (front and back) stopped working

I have tried replacing the fuses but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with them - a lot of these issues seem tied to the drivers side stalk... but not the DRL's.

Before I take it anywhere and get fleeced for a fix, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could try? Originally I was going to test voltage at the washer pump, but now that the wipers have also gone - I feel it is more likely something else causing it?

Thanks

Sounds like a BCM issue now.  Do you have Forscan?

I don't have Forscan - just googled it and assume I would need some kind of tool to utilise it rather than just the App?

Yes, you'd need an OBD dongle to use it with a smartphone.  Costs about £15 from tunnelrat.

You could try leaving the battery disconnected for a couple of hours to try and reset the BCM.  Not sure how accessible it is on the Mk7 but would be worth unplugging it and checking the pins aren't damp or corroded at all.

I've taken it to a garage this morning for a diagnostic test, I have ordered an OBD dongle to use for future issues - I was going to wait until the weekend and have a play around with it, but I'm a bit stuck for time at the moment.

I'll report back when I know the damage and I'll let you know, just in case anyone has a similar issue :)

Apparently the issue was due to the passenger footwell, part of the covering had come loose possibly due to one of my passengers kicking it or knocking it with their feet, resulted in something it pushes into having bent pins

The garage have sorted the pins out and everything is working now, not sure if the module would have been the BCM, but considering I had no idea what I was doing, £80 was a relatively small price to pay.

Hope anyone else googling this might be saved some cash in future if you experience the same thing 😊

Yes, that'll be the BCM.
