Changing radio screen from basic 2 line to LCD (PFL)

Featured Replies

So I currently have the basic stereo without Bluetooth or USB, only aux. It has the two line display as shown below except mine is red obviously since it's a PFL

I'm trying to upgrade it to this screen as I prefer the way it looks, however when I plug it in nothing happens. The radio seems to have no power at all with the LCD screen plugged in. I've tried to change from low level to high level radio in Forscan and have even enabled DAB and bluetooth to see if it will work, but still nothing. Any ideas?

No idea if the part numbers matter but the original one is BA6T-18B955-AJ and the new one I'm trying to replace with is AA6T-18B955-BA

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, I’d say that if you have only replaced the screen then the screen you have fitted isn’t compatible with your head unit, and facia, you will most probably need a head unit and facia which support the display you are trying to fit. I think that particular screen is mid level, and not high level.
If you are going to buy a compatible head unit I’d advise that you have a look on the back of yours to see what connectors are on it, as there are a couple of different ones, and obviously you will need one from a pre facelift 2009-2012.
Hope this helps.

That's possibly the case although I was hoping it would've worked as it is. The only options i had was low and high level, and low and high level branded.

Looks like I'll need to change the head unit then, don't think I'll bother unless I can get bluetooth fitted at the same time. Is this difficult to fit?

Cheers for help

If you want Bluetooth you would also need a module similar to this one https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F143189788610
But would obviously need to make sure it’s compatible with your car/head unit

I'd need a new head unit I think. If I got this would I need the wiring loom or is it already there?
