Water temp sender Transit 1989 Mk3 120

Featured Replies

Hi all - Newbie here but so glad to have someone to help. I have a 1989 Transit Mk3 120 petrol  which, since I bought, it the Temp gauge slowly goes to full scale. Disconnect unit and gauge returns to zero. No - it's not boiling!

Previous owner had sender replaced with no difference to gauge reading. Turns out there are ? colour banded senders all giving different results. Tried local Ford but they just replace like with like so somewhere wrong unit has been fitted. - new units tried, white and red.

Anyone any clue other than using a variable resistor in line to set gauge to approx reading when engine warm? If going variable route - what value resistor max? Thanking you in anticipation
