MK8 interior

Featured Replies

Has anybody 'de-chromed' the interior of their mk8? I've got my panel removal tools now but can't remove most of the chrome panels, bit scared to use too much force tbh. Maybe i need to.

I would be careful with the force you use. I think the panels, especially the clips that gel everything together are super easy to snap. Haven’t attempted it but found out the hard way taking off a whole door panel

Not much chrome in ours, mostly carbon fibre effect.

I am guessing different models may have different trim levels?

It is mostly carbon fibre in mine, but i just want rid of the small chrome bits, like around the bottom of the front panel and door handles etc.

This is the piece i want to remove (red in picture) and spray red. As well as the other chrome pieces on the door and glove box. But i can't finad anyone who has removed a centre console from a mk8. I might just mask off all the surrounding area and spray paint it without removing it.

Would be easier to buy some trim tape and wrap it in place - at least you wont get overspray or damage the clips by trying to remove

Use pinstripe to cover it. Various colours, gloss or matte, and multiple widths to suit. Just clean with alcohol wipes and apply on a warm day.

That was going to be my other option. Probably safer than spraying tbh.
