2011 a Max reversing camera not working

Hi everyone. Just purchased a 2011 SMax titanium X sport 163 powershift and have noticed it has a reversing camera above the rear number plate, but nothing happens on the screen when reversing. I noticed when in the on screen menu there is no mention of the reversing camera feature. The car has had auto gearbox problems and when in for diagnostics it just reads ’reversing camera inoprable’  has anyone had this issue if so what is the likely problem. Looked on eBay and can get a replacement ford camera for about £25 or a replacement module for about £75-£175 but not sure of how big a job either replacement is. Or is it a software upgrade issue.
