New owner help - heater blows hot

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New owner (or rather my partner is) of a small run about - Ford Fiesta 1.25 Freestyle

We have noticed a small issue, the heater system seems to blow hot air all the time (even if its off)

I have done some research and its common the heater control valve goes, i have checked the fuses - i have purchased the valve as.. again looking into it - seems pretty easy to change?

Wondering if anyone can tell me whether you need to drain the coolant first before taking the 4 hoses / valve out?

thanks

Matt

I replaced the heater control valve on my missus ford KA which was located just below the wiper motor, so if it’s the same location on the fiesta then there’s no need to drain the coolant, just be prepared to lose a little bit when you disconnect the hoses, and also have some kind of bungs available to plug up the hoses while you fit the new valve.
Hope this helps

Hi spray under the wiper nuts with wd40 before you do it they can be badly stuck

Puma is very similar...  If you have a late '98 - '02.  I have no knowledge of the '02 -'08 type......
