I'm looking at buying a 2006 or 2007 Focus and I noticed the 1.6 petrol engine is available with 98 bhp or 113 bhp (115ps) output.

When I go to look at a Focus, how can I tell which output the engine is tuned to? Is is something obvious like twin cams?

prior to viewing ask for the vehicle registration number, then pop said reg IN HERE

Or you can look on the V5 document [doubt anybody would buy a car without first inspecting same]under CO2 emissions it will state 161 gm/km for a 99bhp 1.6

and 155 gm/km for a 113bhp 1.6. Yes I know it's low for a bigger bhp but there you go SEE HERE

PS: welcome to the Forum, hope you decide to stick around. As the more active members we become the more knowledge we should acquire.

PPS: if it was me given a choice, I'd opt for the 113bhp the pro's back up that statement, engine a bit more versatile. But that said overall vehicle condition is my prime deciding factor, hence I ended up with the 99bhp as against the 113bhp offerings available at the time.
