Engine excessive vibration under load

Featured Replies

Hi. S Max 2.0tdci  07 plate when heavy accelerating on 3rd and up to 5th gear normally engine starting to vibrate from around 1800 to 2500 rpm cold or warm...  i don't feel it loosing much power when vibrating but i think it was picking up better before...also black smoke can be seen especially at night time if there are lights behind me. I know that at those rpm engine is giving most power out so i wonder if this is one or more fuel injectors half blocked/dirty so it can not supply the cylinder with sufficient amount of diesel this is why excessive smoke coming out and vibration?  I opened intake manifold hose and noticed there some liquid black stuff like dirty diesel pills or oil (not sure )around valve and sensor and on the inner walls.Recently i changed air and diesel filters.Driving mostly on motorways and using often diesel system cleaners. Im thinking to pull injectors one by one and clean them outside and inside. If anyone had this issue please share how to fix this. Thanks

Hi,

I have the same issue but haven't found the cause yet. Did you have any luck with fixing your car?

Thanks Edward

My brother had a very similar issue recently with his fwd Transit. Turns out it was a driveshaft. It had been to multiple mechanics without any joy, until a lucky conversion with a friend who works at a breakers yard, told him what it was. Very common and very little play in the shaft. To even make you think that was the problem. New shaft, issue gone. I believe it was the n/s shaft.
