Weird turbo noises on 1.0

Featured Replies

Now I've got your intrigue...

Got silicone intake hoses and a metal crossover pipe as well as the hard pipe turbo elbow on my 1.0 ecoboost.

I've started to notice a loud sucking noise, not normal turbo noise but like something sucking into a vacuum, almost a slurp. At the same time there's a dip in power, less pulling rather than losing speed.

This happens at around 2000-3000rpm, above this the noise goes, the engine begins to makes its normal growl and power surges to what would be a normal level.

Only happens at full throttle, part throttle seems to pull harder than full. And it's also intermittent (yay).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?

Sounds like a boost/vacuum leak. Is it throwing any codes? I’d suggest you adjust/tighten all your hoses. Did you reuse the OEM rubber ring type gasket when you fitted your turbo hard pipe?

No codes or warnings being shown.

Checked all hoses and there was nothing loose and the green gasket was used too.

I've swapped everything back to stock, the car has less pull and power across the range but now it's driving like it should.

Can you recommend a longing tool? I'm planning on monitoring stock for a week then swapping back over and seeing if there's any inconsistency
