I am sort of in the process of trying to order my new car under scrappage (have already left a deposit so don't know if i will still get my scrappage deal) but the dealer is struggling to find the car i want (also in sea grey-best colour IMO). I should've gone to Evans Halshaw...
boggyb68
As with a second hand motor, go over it with a fine toothed comb before driving it off the forecourt. Check body work, interior, engine bay, etc... check it has all the kit on it that's supposed to be on it, esp if you've added options to it. Check everything works. If you find anything, no matter how smaall do not accept it until completely satisfied, and definitely don't hand over the payment until so. Remember you can always reject the car under the Sale of Goods Act if a serious fault develops in the first weeks of owning it. Most things should be checked in the dealers PDC, but sometimes things get overlooked. Whenwe got a brand new Alfa 147 in 04, when I got it home my mate said the reversing lights didn't come on when I backed it into the drive an hour after picking it up... turns out when I checked it that the leads connecting them to the main circuitry of the car had not been connected up! Took it back, they plugged them in and it was all ok! That's Alfa for you... All will probably be fine, but just be vigilant.. and enjoy it! B.
