Best breakdown cover for Ford Fiesta?

Featured Replies

Looking for breakdown cover for a Fiesta and I’m amazed at the price difference between companies for what seems like the same level of cover.

For example, if I look at the breakdown comparison table below of most UK breakdown companies, it shows big differences between them. Why?

breakdown cover prices

Am I missing something?

Anybody recommend the best company or at least who I should avoid?

Thanks

There is a lot more to breakdown than you'd think.

The cheapest services will expect you to pay extra at the roadside if you have to be towed or repaired.

Some cheaper services limit the amount of callouts per year.

Cheaper services will usually have fewer vans and rely on individuals that don't work solely for the company so callout times may take longer.

Then you have the option to choose 'recovery' which takes the car to a garage or your house if it can't be repaired at the roadside.  Plus various other options such as home start etc.

If your Fiesta is a fairly new and serviced by Ford then you get free breakdown cover through them, this is the most recommended service on this forum.  If it's an older car then you've got various options and need to decide what you want from the breakdown service.  StartRescue seems to be one of the better, cheap services.

Thanks for the response.

Ok I understand now. The cheaper firms dont have their own fleet of recovery vans etc. They just use local garages.

I guess with the aa and rac etc. you are paying more for the fact they have their own fleet, experience, reputation and so on.

For the smallish amount of driving I do though I just wonder if a cheaper one is fine, I’ll look at startrescue like you said.

Thanks again

My Ford gets serviced by Ford Dealer who offers :free:Ford Assist which is in fact linked to the AA

It doesnt have tomthat new a car my 10 year old mondeo got serviced at ford and got the breakdown cover, which is worth noting is full, roadside and relay cover even abroad.my Aa cover was £169 i think the ford service was £125 bargain.
