Coolant sensor trouble

Featured Replies

Hi I have just replaced my coolant sensor on Ford Fusion it worked for a few hours, then the temperature  gauge stopped working, maybe a dud sensor .or could there be a some thing else coursing the problem, thank you . Keith

See thread in Fiesta, EdGasket is also having fun with his.

When you say "the temperature  gauge stopped working", do you mean shows hot or cold ?  If cold I would check your connections.  Is the CTS from  Ford, or another supplier ?

It’s not reading,at all ,I got the sensor from amazon,Chinese i think,it did work for a while about a hour . Engine warning light is on. Thank you for your reply

You need to measure the resistance across the sensor; should be around 40K ohm or more at ambient. You need to get an obd2 code reader and see what code was logged and then clear it. Maybe the sensor has gone short or open circuit and the check light is on because of a logged fault code re. the temp sensor.
