It's meant for new cars that can communicate with your phone via their own modem.

My Ford Pass app now works. It says there is currently insufficient data to show MPG, but I’ll see if that updates over the next few days. I’m still not convinced of the benefits of the app. I keep a record of my MPG on another app already.

It's beneficial as it allows for live traffic data to help avoid jams and roadworks.

You get that via your phone anyway if you pair it up through Bluetooth.

Got mine paired with the Ford Pass app now.  Not sure if much / any of the features are actually necessary.  It now records my journeys, gives access to assistance to find parking, banks, Ford dealers etc, and tracks my miles per gallon ( although it needs more journey data for that to work). Not sure to be honest whether I want Ford, or anyone else for that matter, knowing where I’ve been.

Having now used the Ford Pass app for about a week, I’m finding it more and more pointless. It maps my journeys, but not all of them. It tells me what percentage of fuel I have left and what my mileage is, although these are clearly visible to me when I start the car. It tells me how to get to my local dealer, but I know the way without assistance and links to new cars, but I can get that from the Ford website. Is there anything this app does, which is actually useful ?

Remote start, looking at the user manual (only place I can access it other than my glove box copy), Tyre pressure check from the comfort of my living room (yes I know), My Ford Credit details (tend to look at that as little as possible!) Only had the car a week though (2019 ST-line)

You can view the handbook in the app. Also you really need the app to register the Sync3 modem with Ford so you can then enable live traffic. Other than that it's not much use. Note though it's best to force stop the app on your phone etc after use otherwise it can keep communicating with the modem potentially causing battery drain .This has been covered on here elsewhere.

Will remote start work with my 2017 Edge Sport ?  I need lessons.

Only works on auto transmission vehicles .

Looks like remote start and lock unlock don’t work with my 2017 Edge Sport, despite being automatic. On top of that I’ve been religiously connecting my phone via USB, having disabled Apple CarPlay  and opening the Ford Pass app on every journey. Sometimes it records my journey, sometimes it doesn’t and sometimes it does half my journey. It’s a bit ***** really. Plus no matter how gently I drive, it tells me I’ve been braking harshly, accelerating harshly or cornering harshly.  As a retired traffic cop, with years of security escort driving experience of various high profile Royals, I know how to drive smoothly but Ford Pass says I’m rubbish !  Really ??   I think I may bin it.
