Retrofit Traffic Sign Recognition / Lane Departure

Featured Replies

17 plate focus (tit x nav), with the massive mirror surround, with loads of sensors in.  I assume because the car didn't have the options, there's a whole lot of nothing under the shielding (except the radar city stop stuff which I do have).

Is is possible to buy the module and clip in, and enable via forscan? I assumed the loom *might* be there.

(I know Lane Departure requires the different stalk, adaptive cruise potentially different buttons - more interested in traffic sign recognition for now)/.

Anyone done it with part numbers / finis codes?

What does your windscreen look like now. Can you show a pic. ?

i have the part numbers you need somewhere as I was looking at doing this.

it’s been done before

This is the outside view. I haven’t looked under the massive windscreen cover yet - past experience tells me they never go back right!

I turned on TSR in FORScan and got the malfunction message etc, but otherwise it seemed good to go - but I’d only do it if the loom and connectors were in situ really (plug and play)

thanks!

Your car has the large window console but the (rediculously expensive) camera will be missing. This camera is only present if the car has driver aid functionality that requires the camera.

To retrofit the traffic sign recognition you have tot install the camera and probably also the window console wiring harness.

Ahh see through the various forums, English and Russian I couldn’t work out if the mirror head camera was instead of the large windscreen console or as well as.

to be fair it already sounds a lot of effort - I’d only do it to be a completionist and from what I hear the expensive camera isn’t particularly good anyway (misread signs etc)

that’s a shame then! But thanks for the info.  I thought it might be easy 😞

Saw the MK3 Camera which is needed for the lane assist and all for only £175. I wonder what else would be needed but the camera itself isnt expensive at all. Id reckon it is possible to do.

On a vehicle with the large window console you need to install the following parts:

* IPMA module (Camera).
* Wiring harness to connect the IPMA module (in 99% of all cases the wiring for the camera will be missing).
* Steering wheel control module (Clockspring assembly).
* Indicator stalk that supports the driving assistance functionality (with additional buttons).
* Window wiper stalk (the current stalk does not fit onto the steering wheel control module that is required for the driving assistance functionality).

Apart from this the vehicle also needs to have the Level 3 instrument cluster (large full color display).

If all of these requirements are met the CCC (Central Car Configuration) needs to be reconfigured and the IPMA module needs to be calibrated using a suitable diagnostic system.

Plus, I would imagine you would have to upgrade the firmware in the PCM, CCM, ABS, BCM,SCCM and IPC to support

If you can find SCCM etc... I know I can't find it in Forscan on my Focus 16 plate tit x
