Hello! I have a problem to talk about...

Featured Replies

I am New to this forum, and don't actually know how to start a topic, but...

I own a 12.2018 Focus Mk4 1.5 ecoboost 150HP with manual transmission and have encountered an annoying issue.

Everytime when start-stop cycles, i.e. when the engine starts by pressing down the clutch pedal, on hot engine there is a disturbing, rattling sound, like one metal part was hitting another metal right under mu left foot. Everything works smoothly on a cold engine.

When the engine is pressed down a little by hand somewhere near that big dumper holding engine suspension on the right-hand side of the car, the noise stops. But it's not this dumper. I tried putting some memory foam-like material between its parts and it didn't help at all.

It has beed diagnosed at the dealer's as a warranty issue, twice. The second time, they gave me an Mk3 to drive around and it took them three working days just to tell me, they're unable to fix this! But adviced to keep trying. So I am...

Can anyone please help? Pretty please, lots o' sugar on top. 😁😔😔😔

The damper I metioned is in the picture below. Thank you!

Hi

im sorry but I can’t help you with the rattle.

regarding how to post then you should post this in the Focus section of the forum, or admins are likely to just delete it rather than move it for you, as they volunteer their time to the group and don’t have time to move posts to the correct area all the time. However as you are new to the forum the admins may take pity and move it for you just this once 🤞 #admin  @Stoney871

if Ford have accepted there is a problem, and the problem is covered by warranty then it is their responsibility to fix it. If they can’t fix it then the car is ‘not of an acceptable quality’ and ‘not fit for purpose’ so they either have to replace or refund. Look Into your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2010 or speak to the Citizens Advice Bureau. If the car is on finance then speak to the finance company as they will be able to help of you need to reject the car, and if you paid your deposit by credit card then you have cover there under clause 75.

First and foremost though make sure you are speaking with the Dealer Principle (or equivalent) as they are the ones who control things, the service manager is not bothered. Also make sure Ford Customer Services are aware, they can arrange for a master tech to look at it, not one of the garage monkeys (who are very good normally). It’s not your responsibility to find a fix.

Please please please, stop putting any type of foam in the engine bay. It’s a huge fire risk and if anything goes wrong then you will be to blame.

good luck 👍

I have been driving ford's since the age of 18 now in my 50s decided to treat myself to a new car fiesta active x 1,0 140bhp after only 5 months old decided to have a early service garage guy called me in to show me oil leaking from bottom of the engine took the car to ford's who told me the head gasket needed replacing had this done two months later had a look underneath to find oil again in same spot this time oil pump back to ford's also had service done as it was at its 18000Interval got the car back one month later surprise there's another oil leak never have I had a problem with any ford I have ever owned but this has certainly nocked my confidence just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues thanks
