Jump starter power pack

Featured Replies

Hi

Would like to get a  jump starter power pack, I currently just have jump cables in my car but would like a full power pack.

Not sure how big they are so want something small and light if possible.

Anyone got one they can recommend.

Thanks

Honestly, keeping one in your car just isn't worth it. Buy a cheap one and the cold weather in winter and hot weather in summer will just kill the batteries after a year or so. Not sure you can justify spending a few hundred quid on a snap on one to be used once every 6 years when your battery dies in the morning. Then you've the fact it needs charging every so often (which I can guarantee you'll forget to do) so  be dead when you do need to use it.

I just have a 30 year old (probably) Clarke jump starter that plugs into any 240v socket (so no battery to worry about). Gets left in the garage and just works in that once in a blue moon scenario. I very much doubt you can buy this model anymore though haha

I've seen a break down firm engineer try and use the new generation pack (small pack designed to boost the output momentarily) and flatten the battery. These are designed to take what's in the battery, and by releasing it back to the batter in a short burst, give a higher voltage at the moment you're cranking over. The engineer seemed to think it could re-charge a battery, so magically create energy.
