the super fuels talk. 15+mpg increase! still going up, and rolling road test

Featured Replies

Did post this in the mondeo forum but then thought more will see it here, but this is my person experience..

so the question of is super diesel any good gets a hammering. but I will throw this result out to you all.

picked up a Mondeo 2.2tdci St with 147841miles ob the clock, with a full serivce history. over my normal driving week it did 39mpg. but I decided to run BP ultimate in it and found the mpg increase.

Now after a few top ups and 654miles the result is 53-55 mpg tested tank by tank top ups.

Also put her the rolling road to see how she was running and got 150.5hp @3419rpm and 382.45nm torque. For those that don't know that pretty much what ford quote for the 2.2tdci lost 1.5hp but gained 2.45nm torque. not for a 148000+ engine.

based on my normal driving route, and assuming the increase in mpg is the fuel cleaning and easier to burn fuel due to its high cetene rating etc as claimed it works out to arround to saving £201.47 a year driving 7000miles

Oh The mpg is still going up !! think that's a thumbs up to super fuels.

Newer engines may not get a boost in mpg but keep the engine running cleaning and under less strain and negate losing power to build off crap.

Well after such promising results in the Mondeo, I went back to Super fuels in my S1, after not being able to get them for a few weeks.

The spreadsheet, Got 3mpg increase on Shell V-power in S1, which saving me 1pence per mile. which equals £3.42 a year based on local prices. But I have only got 16000 on the clock So id imagine as I run it on V-power most of the time the engine should be clean. but even so still paying for itself, and hopefully is saving me from loosing hp from clogged injectors valve seats and nice clean emissions.
