Mk1 Focus radio code help

Featured Replies

Can someone advise on a radio code, had to disconnect the battery on my July 2003 Mk1 Focus 1.4 and now when you switch the radio on it just shows my registration number.

I've read that by pressing 1 & 6 simultaneously serial number may be displayed starting with a V or M.

When I press the numbers I get DSP then a few seconds later it's showing 50600500 and below that is 255

Any clues as to what I should do now?

remove radio. if you are lucky someone has done this before and written the code on the radio with ink marker or something. in my experience this has been common.

the serial number should be printed on the label on the radio. easy to get a code from places on internet/ebay etc when you have serial number. as little as 99p

i don't know how you get the serial number on the lcd display

Hi Isetta,

thanks for that advice.

Thought that might be what I'd have to do as, I've seen that the V or M code should be on a label on the radio.

I'll have a look at doing that tomorrow and then I'll either write any code I find into my owners audio guide book or use the V or M code to look on the net for the correct four number code. Not sure if the radio has ever been removed before as we've had the car 5 years and my uncle had it for 9 years before that, he sold it to us with only 36K miles on it and now it's only done 61k miles and he hadn't removed the radio while he had it.

Try pressing 2 and 6 instead.

On my brother's car I have scratched the code on the inside of the glovebox for him as I know he would lose anything I wrote it on. I found it was written on the radio in marker pen but it is a bit of a pain to remove to find it.

OK I will try that before I remove the radio

Well I tried the 2 and 6 instead and that didn't show any V or M code, but spoke to my aunt and uncle today when I went to see them and my aunt said she'd found the original sales receipt from when the bought the car when it was about 3 years old.

When I was looking at the receipt, the Ford dealer has put the key number and the radio code on it. So will have a try with that in the morning and if all goes well shouldn't have to remove the radio.

just in case you are not aware how to enter the code

eg.  6152.    press 1 six times, 2 once, 3 five times, 4 twice, then I think you then press 5 and it works. (I think that's how I did mine)

Hi Isetta & Stoney,

thanks for the advice on obtaining & re-setting the code.

The code that the dealer had put on the receipt when the car was 5 years old was used and now I have the radio working again without having to remove it.

So the number will be written down in a few places, just in case it's ever needed again.

Once again thanks for the advice and have a Happy Christmas

Steve
