Boot open warning when closed

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2010 S-Max.  I keep getting an intermittent warning on my dashboard saying the boot is open even though it remains shut.  I replaced the latch last month with a new one (from Ford dealer) but I am still getting the visual and audible warning.  Any ideas?

I’ve had exactly the same problem with mine for the last couple of weeks & tonight all the dash board lights remained on after I remotely locked the car.

I’m thinking electric failure somewhere & a visit to the garage will be needed?

I had this exact problem, and fixed it over the weekend.

The boot open warning would come on, and then it wouldn't let me open the boot.

Where the wiring harness goes from the boot lid to the chassis (top left, when looking from the rear of the car), several of the wires were worn through.

Resoldered these together and new insulation on it, works like new again.

Of course, the soldered sections will be brittle, but they'll hold for a while. I don't want to know how much a replacement harness would cost...

Hope this helps someone :)
