Alarm System Service Required & PDC Error

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2008 58 2.2tdci Titanium S-Max that has developed a couple of faults just as I am trying to sell it.

Firstly since opening the car on Friday last week and driving it home something has gone wrong. I opened the car with the remote key, but when it came to lock it there was no response from the key. An error then came up on the dash saying "Alarm System Service Required".   = I have had a Ford Specialist plug it in and came up with nothing other than communication error with the immobiliser and that the car had been stolen, which I can assure you it hasn't   I've replaced the batteries in the keys and still no joy. Any ideas? I've read it could be the siren unit so have ordered one, keen to see if any other suggestions.

Secondly the PDC has an error so I get the usual long tone in reverse and the light on the dash switch. the error the Ford Specialist said was "LED Function Error". I've ordered a new switch in case it is that. Any other ideas? all sensors were showing as working, but not detecting us as we moved past them on the diagnostic tool. all showing nothing within 2.55m even though there was.

Any pointers appreciated. The car has only done 50k and otherwise is in great condition so it'd be a shame to have to trade it in with WBAC or similar.

Hi, did you sell your car and did you solve your alarm problem? My alarm goes off most times I lock it, usually solved by opening and closing the car again. Occasionally it happens a second time. I am getting the message 'Alarm System Service Required' as you did. Only thing to add is I've had problems with my battery (new in 2020). If I don't drive it for 4 or more days it dies so it could be linked. I charged the battery totally last week (removed and charged in the house) but alarm still went off.
