airbag "on" light permanently lit?

Featured Replies

Hey all, I've just purchased a 2015 S-Max. The passenger airbag light on the central console is permanently lit with the word "on", it displays "off" if I disable the airbag, but even when enabled/on it stays permanently lit. Is this normal? The dealer I bought it from says it's due to some EU regulation, but I can't find it. Can't find a definitive answer despite searching multiple forums.

Here is the light when I disable the airbag, I would fully expect for this to remain lit all the time, but really not sure if it should stay lit when the airbag is enabled?

It is normal and required. The airbag must be disabled if a rear facing child seat is fitted on the front passenger seat.
