Can anyone tell me what this part is called?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me what this part is called please? The previous owners have put silicone around it and I think there is a bit of oil leaking from it.

It's a peice of vacuum piping.

If you've got a wider picture or let us know which engine it is I'll try and find the exact one.

Thanks for that.  I haven't been able to find the right one on eBay (MK1 parts are getting less common now) but will have another look tomorrow unless someone else finds it in the meantime.

What a bodge! You'd think they'd fix it correctly!

Any good Ford Dealership which has a parts department will be able to tell you exactly what you need.

Thank you for your help👍🏼
it is a really bad Bodge job, I know there oil leaking out of it, because it’s sprayed on air box, so I’m wondering if oils passes through the pipe or is something wrong? Anyone help?😬

The oil spray is probably coming from the large intercooler pipe next to it, there shouldn't be any oil in vac pipes and even if there was it wouldn't spray out as they aren't under pressure.

You'll be shocked at the price for a couple of bits of tubing and a non return valve at the dealers!  I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was around £50.

Annoyingly I still can't find the right one so you may have no option but to go direct to your local Ford unfortunately.

I have found another broken one on a French forum if that helps at all!

Yep some parts can be crazily expensive but if the part fails due to going brittle with heat & time, then going to a scrapyard isn't the best option, as that could break removing it from the car, our son's ST suffered with three pipes going very brittle and shattering, he decided to upgrade all the pipework with high pressure braided air pipe, that'll never fail on him.
