Urgent help needed - Battery dying with no drainage

Featured Replies

Hello Forum members

I am new here, discovered forums out of desperation. I will try to stick to the main points.

My battery died end of October, got a new one

Battery died again last Thursday, (26/3), RAC came out said the battery is dead, can jump start but won't last and there is nothing they can find that is draining it.

So put in a brand new battery from them

Drove on Friday to get essentials.

Needed to go out again today and the battery is dead again today - The brand new battery is dead again

Called out RAC - they said same thing - they can't find drainage issues but battery is dead. They jump started it and said they can't replace as it doesn't fit into their criteria under warranty.

I am now stuck with two dead batteries, with no drainage issues.

I went out to start it again, which it did but now the gear box doesn't move (it is an automatic car)

I am a single mum of 5, with no work due to current situation, the tittle money I had left, I bought the battery with. So currently I am helping more than helpless and angry and upset and depressed.

Any help/ideas on what is going on, What can I do? With hardly any/no garages open what do I do?

Take the battery back to the store you bought and have it checked they will find out that the battery is broken and ask for a new one there still should be warranty on the battery.

If you have the new battery installed let some one check the load voltage and current from the alternator to see if there is something wrong with the alternator

Check in your area to borrow a battery charger. If the battery charges over night, the issue is with the alternator rather than the battery, and the charger can keep you going until you can get your car fixed again. Good luck from Cologne!

First thing I did was to turn my car on, which it did. So does this mean it is the alternator?

Also my automatic gear stick is locked, any idea on how to get it to move again?
