Lost power to R/O side door

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Focus 2015 Titanium 5 doors

All power to my rear offside door has gone. Electric window won't go down and the door is stuck locked. It won't unlock through central locking or manually from inside. At first I thought it was a fault with the locking mechanism but then I realised the electric window is also not working.

The rest of the doors work fine.

What's could be the fix for this? I'm out of warranty so I hope it's something I can do myself. Do all doors have separate fuses?

Unlikely to be as simple as a fuse. All door features are controlled by an ecu in body and also a controller in door which may have failed. They are all linked by canbus/linbus. Having said all that I had a similar issue on a Mk3 focus that was caused by water getting into door wiring harness connector. Unfortunately to get to that you have to take off the door. In my case door still activated interior lights.

Doors don't have separate fuses but they do all have their own door modules.  Sounds like either yours is broken, or the plug has come loose.  The difficulty will be getting the door open to check the module.

I've just seen a video on how to take the door of with it being locked closes. Although it was an older model.

What should I be looking for if I can manage to get it off in order to sort the issue?

This will make me busy during lockdown!

The module is a small square plastic box bolted inside the door.  Probably best to check the door plug if you can access that with just the front door open.

If you get to the point of removing/opening the rear door the first check is just to make sure the module is plugged in tightly.  If it is, unplug it and check the condition of the plug for water ingress or corrosion.  If that's all clean, use a multimeter to check voltage is reaching the module.  If it is, probably time for a new module, you can buy them used for around £30 but they are specific to each door and will need to have the same options as your car, one touch windows for example.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting battery as that often releases centrally locked doors. Problem you'll have of course is once open it you probably won't be able to lock door with central locking but you can still lock it manually with a screwdriver on door jamb

Also L an R doors should have the same module so you can swap to see if you have a faulty one. There's  a good YouTube video that shows proper way to remove door card but again can only be done with door open.

I have a 2016 ford c max and all doors do have a control module with there own fuse, same problem, o/s/r door lock and window not working. In boot on left hand side there's a fuse box X4 fuses 25amp, one for each door. That was all mine was a blown fuse.
