mobile remaping whats your thoughts

Featured Replies

so as per title whats your guys thoughts bluefin, mobile mapping, actual dyno mapping

I've had two generic mobile remaps, on diesel turbos, but without any other physical mods, and IMO if you don't have any additonals mods, exhaust, intercooler etc., this is all you need for a quick boost of power and torque.  As long as you don't overdo it you should be fine.

If you've done other mods, a proper dyno map is best to take full advantage of those mods.

Yeah Blufin from superchips can get some good results for some and as a company gets good reviews too.

Their prices can be a bit steep and in my opinion doesn't warrant the costs the handset I've used on a privious car and was fine then.

Myself I wouldn't use them on the grounds on costs, but I would use Quantum Tuning they get very good reviews over on trustpilot have the same if not better results and around £100 cheaper but no handset.

I'm all for mobile remapping myself...who doesn't want a faster mobile!

It really depends on the engine tbh, and you don't say which you have?

I've had several 'generic' diesel maps over the years, they used to cost less than £50 and could be applied with an old laptop and £10 knock-off Galletto cable...ah the god old days...  While they were technically generic, some were adjusted to include EGR removal, DPF removal, bigger turbo, straight through, etc...so not all as simple as grabbing one off the shelf.

Dyno mapping is obviously best, but it's unnecessary on a standard car, only worth doing if you've got plenty of mods to make the most of it.  It takes ages to get right as well, often requires more than one visit to perfect having known a few people that have had it done after we fitted major modifications.

If you've got a standard 1.0EB, Bluefin is probably the way to go from the reviews I've read...but get in quickly as they may be closing soon unless someone buys them out!

One thing to remember is that the stock map, is a generic map.

On most modern ECUs the stock map will adapt itself to the engine, and there is no reason a 3rd party generic map can't (and shouldn't) do the same.

Obviously a custom map can get every last drop of performance out of your unique engine/setup, but when you consider a 3rd party generic map is just lifting how the stock map works, as long as they've not been stupid with it, I don't see them as bad.
