MK8 Armrest Removal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’ve got a 2019 ST MK8 and I’ve got a new leather cover for the armrest but I’ve no idea how to remove it in order to stick the new one on top.

I know on the MK7 there were 3 screws under need and it comes straight off but I can’t see anything like that on the MK8.

Anyone know how to remove it?

Possibly going to be awhile before you get an answer !

The answer is... pull up from the back of the arm rest gently but firmly from the rear ( end facing back of the car ) pull forward and up and the same time. it hooks on the front so make sure you just dont rag it off.

I have replaced the pleathur on mine too, if you need pics of it being done let me know and ill add them.

I'll get round to changing mine over at some point , so you might as well post the photos up so we've got a record of how to do it 😎

Not really much to show, just take your time glue it well and use clamps round the edge until it sticks. I initially tried using carpet tape but then had to go back with some silicon adhesive stuff. Came out really well. One of the first mods I did. I re skinned mine using a Puma cover as I wanted red stitch.
