Dahsboard Light Dimmer Switch

Featured Replies

I know its not something that gets used much (set it once and thats pretty much it) but it seems strange as every other car I've ever owned has one.

Why doesnt it have one? Or am I missing something?

If it does, where's it hidden!?

would be strange considering the mk1 has it im assuming you looked around the light switches etc

Mk1 zetec has one, Little roller wheel to the left of the headlight control dial.

Just looked at a photo of my car on the 56 stone chip thread, is that not it to the left of the lighting switch?

nipped out and looked at it before the wife goes to work in it. That switch looks like it's the headlight level adjuster. So yes it's funny it not having a dash dimmer if that is the case. bit of a back wards step.

I wonder if all the wiring is already behind, and its just a case of pull the old one out, and fit one with a dashboard dimmer switch?

May be worth having a look around some scrap yards to try.

Anyone know how the unit pulls out? Is it just clipped in?

on the 06 mondy you can just swop the panel for one with a dimmer switch on it, so i would think the focus would be the same.

Thanks mate.

I may have a look around for a new front panel.

any ideas how it comes out?

Perhaps the dimmer switch only came as standard on Ghia models on the Mk2. Strange that the Zetec doesnt have it tho.

i was wondering the same about my 2002 focus estate that doesnt have a dimmer but does have head light adjustment.

my old 1994 vauxhall cavalier has a dimmer and i used it all the time when driving at night i like a dull dash as it helps my eyes adjust. so whats goin on a few years later, did mr ford just plain forget ?

havnt really bothered to check if there is wiring behind where it should be on the focus.

id imagine it will be a top and bottom push in clip to release the little cover

Thanks mate.
