Best all round Tyres for an s max?

Featured Replies

hello everyone,

Does anyone have a Tyre manufacturer preference to fit to an s max.i am after a good all round Tyre that’s good in the wet and dry but also quiet and not too uneconomical . Any suggestions would be very appreciated! Thanks

I run Michelin premacy 3’s (245-45-19) on mine, as they provide a lot of grip/feedback and pretty low noise.  I believe the 4’s are out for my size now. To be honest, I’m seriously considering buying cheaper tyres next time. At nearly £200 a corner, they don’t last that long due to the cars weight, the tracking can be put out of alignment so easy it’s ridiculous and that’s £100 at the dealership due to the front lane camera needing calibrated  every time the tracking is done. The continentals the car originally came with, were terrible. They wore out a lot quicker than the Michelin’s and always struggled for grip in all weathers. My wife and myself are not hard or fast drivers or even do big mikes that would justify the tyres not lasting, just seems an s-max thing. I spoke to a lad last year, who was like me and always ran Michelin’s on his car, his mate advised him to try Goodyear and he more than happy with them. Think whatever you pick, you will always have the yes an no’s from others when it comes to tyres.

Have a look on tyrereviews.com but bear in mind a lot of the tests are facilitated by big brands. Good Youtube video analysis of test results which shows big name expensive brands are excellent when new but matched by the cheaper brands as they start to wear. I like Falken Ziex ZE914 Ecorun, as I do a lot of cross Europe trips so wear and mpg is important as well as handling and feedback. As I use winter tyres, I get good mileage out of them as it's the cold weather that strips the meat as the rubber hardens.

A few on the Facebook forum have rated Autogreen Super Sport Chasers which cost about £200 for four fitted.
