Sony 6cd

Featured Replies

Hi all,

my stereo had a fault so I upgraded to a 6 cd Sony stereo, it seems fine but it won’t connect via Aux or Bluetooth is this a general fault with them?

The bluetooth module is paired to the specific headunit,

So provided the 6CD sony is from a focus and not a mondeo then the only thing required is to access the GEM with software and reinstall the software to allow the bluetooth module to communicate with the new headunit.

It's all really alot of bother which is one of the reasons I went fully aftermarket on my mk2.5 focus.

Theres a model number on the sony if you google details part of that model number will tell you whether it's from a mondeo or focus

If it's from a mondeo then it will never communicate with your bluetooth module; like a shelf packer in Tesco that gets promoted to team leader; looks identical but wont talk anymore as he thinks he's a step above.

The mondeo headunit is identical but the software is different

That analogy made me laugh! 😆😆😆

Just a minor tweak

See alot of this in the life of Brian

"He must be a king because"

"Oh really, why"

Because he's not covered in excrement like the rest of us 😅

Another one is "in the land of the blind, the man with one eye becomes king"

So there’s nothing to be done if it’s from a Mondeo, and it’s now in a Mondeo?

The Aux Jack is connected to the bluetooth module some way,

The specific headunit will need to be paired to the specific bluetooth module mate, I think this is now possible to be done with a modified elm327 cable and the software on the forum here for the modified elm327

Alternatively you would need to bring it to ford for them to do it.

No problem, sorry to be the bearer of the bad news; I once had a Sony 6 CD from a mondeo the same as yourself and my bluetooth module wouldn't communicate, I later went fully aftermarket I now have tv tuner, HDMI input for a Fire stick or chrome cast, reverse camera and bluetooth streaming where I now use spotify.
