Another pointless gimmick.

Just read this in an honest John review of a new Audi.

"the Q5’s rear lights are now also equipped with a proximity sensor as well - meaning they fully illuminate if another vehicle comes within two metres of the car’s rear bumper when it’s sat stationary. "

I cannot for the life of me see the point of this.

If you're 2 metres away from a car and still can't see it then you're probably blind.  If you are approaching it at speed illuminating at 2 metres is too late.

This is basically "Look at my Audi.  LOOK AT IT!!!"

Presumably it's to help you identify which make/model you've just run into the back of, when you're filling in your insurance claim?😃

It's for the same reason as auto city stop...people can't even drive slowly safely!

Assuming the blind fool is rolling at 5mph into the car ahead, I think an extra bit of brake light would alert them.  Though hopefully they'll have active city stop anyway!

Audi need their headlights to do the same thing although with the average Audi driver's penchant for tailgating, the bulbs will burn out quickly [emoji38]
