HELP - Aftermarket DPF to Exhaust Gaskets!!!

Featured Replies

No it hardens like steel this stuff.

I agree that gungum is awful  and it's good that there's a more modern alternative for you to try. Let us know how you get on with it!

Thanks guys, i've ordered the stuff so fingers crossed!

As this is my first time I thought I would just give you a run down of my plans and see if there is anything I have missed...?

1. DPF - Turbo: I will loosen all connections that hold the DPF in place so that I can get a tight as possible connection to the turbo. I will then apply the product wrapping it around both components like the above video shows. I will then wait for it to cure and reattach the V clamp.

2. Once the DPF - Turbo connection is secure I will place a bead of the high heat silicone sealant around the inside (on both sides) of the ford gasket ridge and tighten the pipes together.

Have I missed anything?

Cheers, Stophen.

Hang on, what's in that tape?  I really wouldn't use any sort of paste or sealant on the pre-cat connection.  There must be some sort of sealant on that tape unless it sticks with magic?

Hi @TomsFocus, I’ve emailed the company to see if it would work, awaiting their answer...

Just out of interest, why would using something with adhesion be a problem?

If it can’t stand the regen temperature surely it would just burn up?

Adhesion isn't the problem, any bits that get inside can ruin the cat core, and the chemicals can ruin the lambda sensor (if you've got one on a late DV6, early ones didn't).

Some sealants claim to be cat safe but every cat you buy still has warnings about not using any sealant on them.

Thanks @TomsFocus for the explanation.

At present only extremely small particles would get into the DPF so I’m hoping (🤞) this addition will be ok (especially when the clamp is reattached).

Cheers, Stophen.
