Front passenger door won't unlock

Featured Replies

So... another teething issue with my new (to me) Focus Mk2.

After I bought the car and got it home, a few days later I discovered that the passenger door wasn't locking via the fob all the other doors were fine, there was no noise or clicking coming from the door, so the actuator wasn't doing anything, so I manually locked it from inside the car for security.... Now the passenger door won't unlock with the fob and also won't unlock manually from inside, so the only way i'll get this to unlock is by removing the door card i think but that's almost impossible with the door closed.

Any ideas on how to get this door open so I can get the card off.

Could this just be an actuator issue, all the other doors are fine.

Right, I have a positive update. I've managed to unlock the car from the inside. This is what I did.......

The door lock lever was stuck in the lock position, and nothing I did would allow me to unlock the door. However, I've just gone out to the car in a last ditch attept to see if I can get the door open. I got in the car from the passenger side, and tried the door lock lever, as before it was stuck in the lock position, so I closed the drivers door, and locked and unlocked the car with the fob from inside (I had disabled inside alarm scanning for this exercise). As I locked and unlocked the car with the fob, i gently pulled the door lock lever on the passenger side when unlocking and it popped unlocked.

I did this a few times, pushing the lever into the lock position, then unlocking with the fob whilst gently pulling the lock lever and it popped out as before. I can now lock and unlock the door from the inside as I should be able to, however the passenger door still won't lock or unlock via the fob. At least I can use the door now. Looks like maybe the door lock needs lubricating maybe.

So, I guess next on the agenda is to establish what's causing the remote locking/unlocking issue on that door. It could be the actuator or the central locking module. Both are reasonably priced second hand..... both come in at around £25 each so not the end of ther world. be good to identify which it is though. As I've had problems with the door lock 'm starting to lean towards an actuator issue, rather than an electronic module issue.

Had an issue with with the front passenger and rear passenger doors not unlocking. Only drivers door and boot opening. Checked the fuse box under glove box and found a blown 20amp fuse. Disconnected the battery and replaced the fuse. Reconnected battery and now everything working.

I have the same issue and my passenger door is locked shut.  I've tried to ease the lock while unlocking on the fob but no joy.  Would appreciate any advise on getting the door card off while the door is shut!
