No Brakes

Featured Replies

My son has a Focus mk1 The brakes have completely gone! I am a retired AA patrol well up on faults! But this one has me beat, Bled it to death. Have used the old way and pressure bleeding. New Master cylinder worked for a short while then gone again! have no leaks!  And what a pain to get at the Master cylinder!  could the ABS cause a fault which i doubt Has any one got an idea?  This is a very Hairy thing to happen! Ford should be ashamed to put such a system on a car!  Have you had bother trying to start your car! We found was the instrument panel fuel gauge, water temp, etc in front of the steering wheel!  Needed to have electric panel board re-solder the joints!  Thanks for any help  Archie

Likey it's a failed abs module.

As Stoney says,  failed ABS module, the dash is common fault too.

Thanks for answers!  Turns out this fault of no brakes started shortly after my son put new calipers on the front wheels!  Yesterday got access to the ABS pump! Again another Nightmare to get at! Managed to get the fluid pipes undone and get fluid through, today going to pressure bleed the whole system! Wish me luck Archie

Hi, you probably need to do a service bleed on the abs unit. You need Forscan to do this.. In future, if you do any work on calipers it's advisable to clamp the hose first, then loosen the bleed nipple if any piston retracting is needed.

btw, the abs service bleed does all 4 wheels one after the other.. I had to have all 4 wheels off at once so had to invest in an extra set of axle stands.

Not sure if this old thread might help..    https://www.fordownersclub.com/messenger/21212/?tab=comments#comment-78158
