Fiesta Mk8 Zetec (2018) Car Idling Noise in Gear

Featured Replies

Hi

I am new to the forum and just purchased a 2018 plate Fiesta Zetec from a ford dealer last Saturday, the car had 2150 miles on the clock and still had the new car smell I have since done 200miles this week in her and like the car

I have a noise which I did not notice on test driving hopefully this is probably normal for the car but I have it booked in with the Ford garage on Wednesday to check over

So this is the noise

(Dip Clutch with Gear in neutral no noise put into 1st gear or any gear generates a higher different tick over tone and almost a warble noise, place back into neutral it disappears, put into gear again it returns, dab the accelerator and noise goes but returns at idle & seems only when vehicle is warm and travelled, Drives fine and no issues changing or getting gears)

The audio starts with the noise and goes when i put into neutral then back again as I put into gear, Sound is quieter in the car and seems to be around the drivers side when listening

Is it happening when you start to lift you foot off the clutch or is it constant?

Hi

It happens with clutch fully depressed and then putting into any gear, take it out of gear it stops, so all whilst in idle

If I lightly touch accelerator a touch it goes away will try later today to try lifting clutch but will more than likely stall

So constant until I take out of gear as in the audio

So tried raising clutch and stalled but couldn't detect and desernable change

Does kinda sound like something vibrating once a gear is engaged, maybe the garage will be able to shed some light on it. Report back.

Will do thanks, its in tomorrow, had a mechanic friend round today he heard it and looked under bonnet and  couldn't work out the noise either but said it was more than likely nothing to worry about but best let Ford Tech check it out

So they rang to say they have listened to the car and the audio above and say that all is normal

Not sure which variant you have, so i'm not sure if yours will do this also, but the only similar thing i have noticed on mine is that when lifting off the clutch the car seems to have like an anti-stall thing where it apply some revs to get you moving. Hence why i said about it only happening when lifting off the clutch before, but didn't want to apply judgement only on a audio clip.

At least they have checked it over.

Hi David,

Did you manage to get that resolved ? Mine does the same thing, while idling  if i turn on the Aircon it goes  away and if i apply a little bit of gas it goes away but mine is a bit louder than yours
