I recently purchased a 1.8 TDCI S Max (2010) 

 

I noticed yesterday that the revs would not exceed 3000rpm but when i took my foot off the accelerator and accelerated again that they would continue to climb to 3500-400rpm then repeat to get to top of rev band.  Also when changing out of first the revs will occasionally rapidly increase (without input from me) to the top of the rev range / almost red line.

There has also been a clunking sound when i accelerate/decelerate sounds as if its coming from FDS of car. 

 

The car is in warranty from purchase and getting looked at tomorrow so would be glad of any knowledge/assistance before hand.
