Focus 2006 egr problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls. So bacicaly the power train light comes on every so often. Too often for my liking.

I connected it to obd and I get Egr circuit high. Its a 1.8 so the egr is built into the manifold. I took the egr cooler and egr actuator off. The spindle on the valve sprins free, when I spin it the noise of the engine increases especially where the egr cooler connects which leaves me to believe the egr itself is working fine.

The actuator clicks when engine is turned off and on which leads me to believe the actuator is working too.

I'm very confused 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I remember there being a thread on here where someone was able to source and install a replacement part for the internal mechanism.  Although the mechanism was free to move i.e. not jammed, it had actually failed so wasn't actuating when it should have been.  The search functionality on the forum is rather crappy but you should be able to find the thread without too much of a problem (famous last words).

This one maybe?
