Mk3 Galaxy Aircon Prblem

Featured Replies

Hi

Took my Galaxy in for its second service and was told by the dealer that it had a recall for airconditioning outstanding which they would deal with at the same time. Shortly after the service our weather got hot enough for me to use the aircon but it would not blow colder than 20 degrees. I went back to the dealer and reminded them that they had worked on the aircon and that now it would not blow colder than 20 degrees. They said what they had done would not cause the aircon to lose gas and that I would have to pay £75 to have it topped up as gas only covered a 1 year guarantee period. This all sounds a little dubious to me. Can anyone please advise?

Regards Bob

the galaxy is the same aircon unit in the sharran and vw passat so if it wont blow colder than 20 degrees take it to kwik fit they will check if it needs recharged iof it doesnt then it can be the sensor thats on the radiator i cant remember the name of it but it will need to be checked by an aircon specialist as there are 2 sensors that can cause it another cause can be the pump is knackered inside which is extremely common on these cars and extremely expensive to repair around 700 quid at the cheapest so ide get a mobile aircon specialist to come out he will check if it needs topped up check the pressure in the pump etc and will tell you whats wrong i doubt it had anything to do with the work and if it did you cant prove it worked right before it went in thats why i bought a car without aircon been there done that too many times

As a result of your reply I took it back to dealer and asked to see details of the recall. The workshop foreman then took the car into the workshop and put it up on the ramp and checked the rear pipe and it was obvious that it was leaking. They obviously had not done the job properly or were expecting me to hand over £75 and then do the job and claim the expenses back from Ford and pocket my £75.

Thanks for your advice the dealer is now going to do it free of charge.
