A bit more information would help.

  • Is it stuck up or down?
  • Can you pull it up with your foot?  If so, does it stay up?
  • Any difference in behaviour between when the engine if off or running?

If it's stuck down you've either got a hydraulic leak in the pipe or at the slave cylinder. Or there's the possibility of the system sucking in air at the master cylinder.

Hi FatHead

i have the same problem. To answer your questions:

stuck down

i can pull it up and it stays up.
seems to work (at the moment) while engine is running/driving.

I have a judder in my clutch, so I am assuming my clutch is on the way out, but not sure if this is linked or coincidence

As above.

Thanks @unofix. So after I posted this I found a spring hanging down (picture attached to illustrate), which I’ve reattached. But there is defo still an issue as the clutch isn’t as smooth (certainly when the engine isn’t running) as before. The slave cylinder, is that inside the gear box? And if so, does that come as part of a 3 piece clutch kit (as I’m wondering what the difference is to a 2 piece clutch kit!?)

No, but it is a problem to get at. It is on most Fords these days located inside the clutch/gearbox Bell Housing. I'm not up much on clutch system you have maybe @iantt would know the answer

Pretty much all the fords use the slave cyl inside the bell housing. Gearbox out to do. 3 piece clutch required if it's already juddering. The spring that broke is just a clutch pedal return spring that doesn't do much in reality.

thanks @iantt, I’ve taken into the garage for a replacement. The car has done 175k miles, is it worth replacing flywheel too?

At that sort of miles definitely.
