Low Fuel Notification - 2018 Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a 2018 Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost and have noticed an issue with the low fuel notification - the chime to indiciate low fuel keeps popping up when I'm driving, around every 2 minutes, despite the tank being full.

The fuel gauge seems to be fine and working correctly as before I filled the tank this was showing a quarter full, and afterwards it has been showing full. However, since I bought the car I've had this issue.

The car will make the chime and the notification will pop up on the dash for a split second, it goes away so quickly you can't even read it - only managed to see what it said as passenger filmed it. The fuel light briefly came on when the car was at a quarter of a tank, but went off again after about 5 minutes and hasn't happened again since, but the constant beeping for the 'low fuel' is driving me insane.

Has anyone got any ideas of what this could be? Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Sticky or faulty level sensor in the fuel tank? Not sure if they still use a float or are more sophisticated.

If car is 2018 plate, should still be under warranty so let a main dealership sort the issue or let the dealer sort it who you bought it from.

It still uses a pretty standard sender unit in the fuel tank and they have been known to play up so I'd suspect it's that

Hi, I am literally now having this exact same issue with mine, did you ever find out what it was and how to stop it? Any help would be appreciated

I've been having the very same issue.  Been in to Ford dealer and apparently it requires some updates.  Hope this helps!

Hi, I have exactly the same problem on mine 2019 1.5 Diesel, Chimes for a second then off again every 60 seconds or so.

Is it the fuel sender or some other problem..

Anyone have a idea yet before i brave dealer (just out of warrenty)

Had this exact issue. Took it to ford and they updated the software. Beeping has now stopped.

Did anyone find a solution as I’m having the same problem, my miles to empty doesn’t update much either now

Looks like software, probably PCM (engine) and IPC (Cluster) need updating

That seems like a long process that I can’t do myself, I’m trying to go down the warranty route, all my vehicle settings resetted just before this for no reason too, such as my keyless entry and tyre pressure unit, even the digital speedometer was blank and I had to choose a background for it to comeback

Being 2018 you are no longer in warranty.

You could pay Ford to do it, just be adamant that you book in solely for software update on IPC, PCM and you might as well do BCM (because I know there can be issues), you're probably talking 3 hours labour.

You could try a battery reset and see if that helps.

Turn on ignition, but do not start engine

Open driver's window

Disconnect battery negative cable and wait 10 minutes

reconnect

Hmm okay I’ll try the battery thing, I bought this car last month and it came with 90 day’s warranty which I’m trying to capitalise on

Oh, definitely force them to investigate issue and sort. It should be a software update that sorts.

If they refuse to fix, get your money back
