Traction control issue

Featured Replies

ok so i have a focus mk3 1.6 ecoboost. just recently when turning right to travel around an island at around 30mph ish. the traction light flashes and i can feel it braking the car.

i have attached forscan and i can see all the readings from the wheel sensors and they all seem to be working fine. the steering wheel angle sensor appears to measure 455 one way and around 455 in the other direction give or take a few degrees. when the traction control kicks in it also stops the live feed to forscan at the same time. there are no codes pointing to anything. any help appreciated

Did you manage to get this fixed? My mk3.5 focus ST has the exact same issue. I’ve replaced the slip ring and the issue still exists

you won't like the reply but its the combination of a lack of understanding of normal changes in road conditions and a massively powerful turbo engined car being driving beyond its safe operating window

its winter, the combination of cold weather with summer tyres (that's what 99% of UK driver's use all year), and road salt (used to reduce the risk of black ice forming), causes the grease and filth to leech out of the tarmac and all roads turn into a scatting rink.  Add in some decomposing leaf litter, a few extra diesel spills and some mud from the collapsing edges of the road or farmers that like to kill and you need to drive far slower and more carefully

save a thought for the poor gits on two wheels - if your car is slipping out of control try and give them some space - they'll be on the floor before you can think and ideally it hurts less when the cars miss you
