Keyless locking/unlocking

Hi, tried Googling but to no avail. I have a 2018 fiesta titanium and have always locked/unlocked by using the remote key fob. Then saw somewhere about keyless unlocking using the door handle? Sounds a bit dumb sure but I tried this and nothing happens. There’s a open padlock symbol on the handle. But touching this neither locks or unlocks the car. Does this need activation, or is this an optional feature? Thanks.
