Map update DONTINDX.MSA Missing

Hi Folks 

Downloaded my first map update today, noticed from ford instructions there should be 3 items in the download.

DONTINDX.MSA   but this file is missing 

I have put usb into car and just waiting to see if I get any errors, so far 10 mins in it seems to be going through install procedure.

 

Question is, is this normal now for this file to be missing, maybe ford haven't updated their instructions ?

    Its not unusual with the F9 download to have that file missing . Didn't make any difference in my car.

    It's not an important file. It literally means "Don't Index", so that the Sync system doesn't try and look for music files and just gets on with the update. At best it being missing might delay the start of the update slightly, but if you've nothing else on the USB stick, it will make no difference at all.

    Thanks again guys, just to let you and anyone else whoever has this problem know.

     

    Installation ended without any problem, strange thing is stage 2 where it asks for a key cycle which means  switching off engine then waiting 2 mins then restart engine, it goes on to say could take up to 60 more mins, in truth it was only 20 seconds before I got installation succesful 

    JUST ONE IMPORTANT REMINDER. I HAD MY CAR PREFERENCES SET TO AUTO SWITCH OFF ENGINE, YOU NEED TO DISABLE THIS DURING UPDATE PROCEDURE IF YOU DID LIKE I DID AND LEFT CAR ON DRIVE WITH ENGINE RUNNING.

    It generated the required log xml file ok

    So all updated now.

    The zip file I downloaded includes all required file including DONTINDX.MSA. It is a file with no content (0 KB) so if you are missing it, you can just create a new empty file and rename it to DONTINDX.MSA.

    It is not an important file, it's not actually needed. All it is is a blank file to tell the Sync system 'Not to Index' the USB pen drive.

    If you don't have the file it only means that Sync will take an extra minute while it creates an index of the USB.
