1.8 V 2.0

Featured Replies

I've posted this on the new members forum but it really sits better here.

I'm looking to get me a Focus Mk1 1.8 or 2.0 Zetec on a 02 plate onwards. I'm leaning to the 1.8 but to be honest if I see a decent 2.0 it would be hard to turn down.

I want to know if the extra performance of the 2.0 is worth the extra insurance/road tax/mpg costs.

I know the 2.0 has 16 inch alloys over the 15's on the 1.8 so does this make any noticeable difference?

Currently have my other halfs Fiesta 1.4 Zetec and a my Vectra 2.2 sri from the dark side.

Thanks

2.0 Zetec 3d 8.9s 125 mph 128 bhp 1 .8 Zetec 3d (98)9.9 s 123 mph 113 bhp so basically you get 2mph more and 1 second quicker and 15bhp more so no the 2.0 litre isnt worth the extra money poor mpg on the 2.0litre as well as well known cooling issues etc having driven one the alloys make no difference the engines a bit nose heavy in the 2.0 litre and not so composed on the front end when pushed the 1.8 is more than substantial and thats not cos i have one i test drove the 1.4 /1.8/2.0 and settled with the 1.8 the 1.4 was just a waste of a car really underpowered and quite rolly compared to the stiffer 1.8 zetec the 2.0 litre doesnt like the front end pushed too hard
