Whistling at motorway speeds

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. First Post here. I have just bought a 2012 Focus Titanium 1.6 tdci. It's been ace so far. One thing I have noticed is at motorway speeds around 70mph I can hear a very faint high frequency like whistling noise that sounds like it comes through the drivers side air vent. I only hear it when doing motorway speeds and its so faint, but you can definitely hear it. Has anyone any ideas what it could be? Car is still under warranty so I can get it fixed if its not normal. Many thanks.

Sshhh... you have Roger Whittaker stowing away in the footwell, just try and harmonise 😂

Whistling is present at high speed or high revs? I would check for the crack at hoses turbo-intercooler-inlet mainfold. Most likely a crack is starting to develop.

Just tested it. Its definitely not rev related. Can only hear it from 60mph onwards. Could be wind related causing the whistling?

I had a similar whistling when at speed. Eventually found a small hole in the wing mirror indicator cover.

New cover fitted, whistle gone.

Ill have a look. Think its defo something minor cosmetically causing it. Many thanks
