The original door protectors can easily be retrofitted to a later Focus MK3 and all MK3.5 (early Focus MK3 doors did not have the mounting holes).

The parts involved however cost approximately €100,- per door. Retrofitting the door protectors is a quite expensive "gimmick".

I had them  on a Mk3 and they worked well. However on my MK4 they tend to stick ie not deploy, when the weather is cold and on doors that are not opened much. 2 have been replaced but are just the same.

Mk 4 door protectors are a gimmick, mine randomly stick out, or in.  They're just bits of plastic on the end of long plastic rods, they're never going to work well.
