Parking sensor speaker output

Featured Replies

Afternoon.

My car was in the garage having the tyres changed recently, when it came back the parking sensors no longer use the radio speakers, but some speaker near the instrument cluster.

The radio also wont come on when the engine is not on and I get a message saying it wont come on to save the battery.

I have updating the sync3 software, but it made no difference. Can anyone advise please?

Thanks.

Merry Christmas.

Mine does this too recently. Think it just needs to be driven more for battery voltage to go up.

This also happens on my Edge. It always happens after I get message that system powered down to save battery. Im sure its down to battery voltage being slightly down as car not used regularly due to lockdowns. With mine if I drive the car for about 20-30mins and park and fully lock car whilst shopping etc all is fully working when I drive home.

Hey, sorry for the massive delay in replying.

The issue has been fixed by replacing the battery. It had died and required jumping and then died again a few days later.

New battery meant everything went back to normal, temperature was in Celsius, parking sensor sound comes from the speakers and its not longer in a power saving mode when the ignition isn't on.

Glad I found this post.

Had this issue on my old MK8 fiesta with the parking sensors sounding like they wern't coming out all of the speakers and always assumed it must be a loose wire somewhere... A bit like if you don't fully put an aux connector into the socket and the sound only half comes out sounding all tinny.

It had to go into the garage as one of the wires for the B&O sound system under the drivers seat actually snapped and cut out all the speakers. Coincdently, the battery completely died the day it was to go to the garage (baring in mind i've had this odd parking sensor issue for over a year at this point, so big coincidence!) and I had to jump start it... Told them this when I dropped it off to get them to charge it while in. When I get the car back, aswell as the wire being fixed I notice the parking sensors are sounding normal again...So I obviously put this down to the wire being fixed and again didn't think of the battery being the issue at all.

Looking back, im guessing a mixture of the jump start to the battery and them maybe charging it while they had it in was the reason they started working properly again.

The reason im looking into this now is that Ive noticed on my now MK4 Focus that the same parking sensor issue has started again, so it can't have been the wire fix I originally thought it was on the Fiesta.

Now my Focus, the start/stop hasn't worked since I bought the car in September, and the dash always says 's/s not working due to battery charging'. So after 4 months of my battery 'charging' I decided to take it to Ford who diagnosed a faulty battery...which now I see must link to the dodgy sounding parking sensors...

Long story short, they've ordered me a new battery which im having fitted next week which should hopefully fix both the S/S and this annoying parking sensor issue 😀
