Boot will not lock

The four doors of my 2015 Ford Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost lock and unlock with the remote control but the boot will not lock. If I press the boot unlock button on the remote I can hear the boot unlocking. The courtesy light in the boot turns off when I shut it.  
I have been told there are two live wires for the boot locking mechanism, one to lock and one to unlock. The two rubber ‘boots’ carrying wires from the car body to the boots seem in very good condition.

Can anyone help with this problem please?

    I have to ask ...... how do you know the boot can still be opened ?

    If you don't press any buttons (remote or on boot) can it still be opened?

    Do you have keyless (passive) entry?

    Is that because you also have keyless entry and have the fob with you when you try the boot? Try again when you’ve not got the fob near the car.
